Lady - I was pregnant and unloved
Description: A SPECIAL LADY! Lady, a nine month old german shepherd was rescued by cereco from the campo. Her story is sadly far too common among many of the dogs brought in. Lady was starved, sick, infested and her eyes streamed green mucous. Full story here....

We segregated her, gave her antibiotics and started to feed her regularly. Over the course of a month Lady was very up and down. Finally kicking off the infections we brought her into the adoption centre for the second time. By this time we realised Lady had not only come to us sick but pregnant! PANIC STATIONS. Lady was too far gone for safe abortion so we allocated her a pen and casita, supplemented her food and tried to build her up so that she was strong enough to cope with the birthing process.

As ever this beautiful dog rose to the occasion and on Friday 7th August Lady dropped her first pup at the feet of her walker, Sue. We cannot decide who was the most surprised, Sue or the dog! Lady lifted her newborn straight into the casita. Nine puppies later Lady was exhausted but she had come through.

In the interests of her health the vet euthanased seven of her very large pups immediately, leaving her two little giants to wean. Motherhood suits this very young mum who is by nature gentle, affectionate and caring. The abuse inflicted on her previously has not coloured her gentle nature and her trust in people.

Lady will be up for adoption when she has weaned her pups and we are hoping ANIMAL AID will yet again come up trumps and find us the best home for this very deserving little lady and the pups. We at cereco look forward to the day when we are able to make every single dog special and adoptable. Economic recession has taken a heavy toll on the lot of animals here on the Costa Blanca. Abandonment is on the increase as society cannot afford the vets fees, relocation costs and food for their pets. Sterilisation is not common practice and until this becomes obligatory, the problem grows. When cereco rescued Lady, we in effect took on ten dogs. We have managed to save just three in this instance.

HEARTBREAKING.

Emergency Contact: 965725794

In the event of an animal in severe distress through injury or abandonment please contact us.

Feeding an injured animal will help it survive but it will not relieve its pain and suffering.  It must have veterinary care.

Please think twice before phoning the police about an animal you have found. The Police send the dogs to the local dog pounds where the conditions are horrific. The dogs are often left without water or food for days whilst they are queued for execution in a not very nice way. Ill animals are not given veterinary treatment. The dogs are not advertised for rehoming, nor any other steps taken.' If you want more information on this go to www.brighteyes.dk.

Foster Homes Urgenty Needed

We always need Foster Homes where we can place rescued dogs whilst we search for a permanent new home for them. Until we are able to support the funding of a Dog Sanctuary we have to rely on the kind help offered to us by Foster Carers. If you feel you can help us please contact us.
