Remember Bambi

Do you remember Bambi whom we raised 1,200 euros for so he could have specialist treatment abroad. Well Good News Bambi is now back to full health, he runs about freely and all his symptoms are healed. The vet Rita fell in love with him, whilst giving him 24 hour care, she couldn't bare to part with him. Bambi is happy to share a home with Rita. Thank You Rita

Every now and again you hear really disturbing news. Just when you think you cannot hear of anything more cruel and disgusting than you have heard before - you do. And this is it.

There is a link just below but do not click on it unless you are really brave. We have been warned that it is to gruesome to watch and something needs to done to stop it. Thanks for your support.

There is no need to see the video, but if you must, be aware, it's horrible. The following video is of excruciating violence. Its painful silences affect us all deeply. If we don't protect animals from this type of brutality, we become accomplices

Or you can write a letter directvto the Chinese ambassador urging China to enact an animal welfare law that will stop the cruel handling of dogs, cats and other animals at markets and during transportation:

We explain the process below: With a hidden camera, animals were filmed being SKINNED ALIVE!!! They say it's done to get a more perfect ''cut''…afterwards the carcasses are tossed into a pile, still alive, and for up to 10 minutes you can see their hearts still beating, in agony, their eyes still blinking, and the puppies little paws still shaking. There was one pup, that still lifted his head and gazed at the camera with bloodied eyes . If you don't care to see the video, please complete the survey and forward to your friends.

The insiders saw visibly exhausted dogs and cats who were languishing in tiny cages. Some had been on the road for days, transported in flimsy wire-mesh cages with no food or water. Twenty cats were crowded into a single cage. The investigators saw the results of the cross-country transport in such deplorable conditions – dead cats on top of the cages, dying cats and dogs inside the cages and animals with open wounds. Some animals were lethargic or frightened, and others were fighting with each other, driven insane from confinement and exposure to the elements. Up to 800 animals are loaded onto each lorry in cages that are stacked one on top of the other. Cages containing live animals are commonly tossed from the tops of the lorries onto the ground 10 feet below, shattering the legs of the animals inside them. Many of the animals the investigators saw were still wearing collars, a sign that they were beloved companions who were stolen to be made into fur coats.

This monstrosity has to be stopped, we have to act!!

24th September 2008

We had a sad case last week of a poor dog called Bernie we rescued who had been left in a garden for 5 years with only holiday visits for company, so lonely and diagnosed with Leishmaniosis. He had never been in a house, the state of him was so upsetting.

The update on this story is that unfortunately Bernie had a tumour on his stomach and because of anaemia caused by the Leishmaniosis, to relieve his suffering he had to be put to sleep.

This was reported to us several months ago but we were unable to get into the garden. A neighbour who had been asked to feed him, for the first time, asked for our help as the little dog looked neglected. If we could have got to him earllier we may have been able to save this poor little thing and give him a better life than he had. IF YOU SEE ANY POOR ANIMAL BEING MISTREATED OR NEGLECTED IN ANY WAY PLEASE CONTACT US. Poor Bernie had lived without love all his little life, we need you to help us make sure this does not happen to any other dog

Although we are mainly a charity for dogs we do very often look after and rehome cats. With this in mind we have added a new section to the website for Cats and Kittens. We hope some kind souls will be able to help the appeals in this section too.

The two Bichons crosses and Sophie (the toothless dog) rescued from Cereco, reported in the Round Town News, are being looked after by Karen and Jane owners of the Cazbar in Montesinos.

We thank Karen and Jane for their kindness. All bills for these dogs are being paid by Animal Aid.

A Special Thank You to Tracey, who has given her time freely to photograph all our abandoned, now rehomed, dogs for our forthcoming calendar.

Shelley and the team at TKO for their on going support.

Debbie - for all her work with the website.

We are very grateful for all the help we receive Calendar 2009 - Keep looking on our website for the availability of our forthcoming calendar Featuring our Vet's and re homed dogs. Coming soon.

Our Work Goes On

But we still have dogs on our appeals page. It would be nice if we could reduce the amount of dogs on the appeals page by rehoming them. So anyone out there who is able to offer a home to one of them please please contact us. Alternatively, any donations to their upkeep would be gratefully accepted.

Emergency Contact: 965725794

In the event of an animal in severe distress through injury or abandonment please contact us.

Feeding an injured animal will help it survive but it will not relieve its pain and suffering.  It must have veterinary care.

Please think twice before phoning the police about an animal you have found. The Police send the dogs to the local dog pounds where the conditions are horrific. The dogs are often left without water or food for days whilst they are queued for execution in a not very nice way. Ill animals are not given veterinary treatment. The dogs are not advertised for rehoming, nor any other steps taken. If you want more information on this go to www.brighteyes.dk.

Donations Page now Live

Our donations page is now completely up and running after we set up our bank account and Paypal account in order to take these donations. Please feel free to use this page to make donations directly to our bank account. There are 4 options for payments.

Foster Homes Urgenty Needed

We always need Foster Homes where we can place rescued dogs whilst we search for a permanent new home for them.

Until we are able to support the funding of a Dog Sanctuary we have to rely on the kind help offered to us by Foster Carers. If you feel you can help us please contact us.
